We cannot recommend Grace highly enough. She was an incredible support to us in the lead up to and the birth day of our daughter. I initially contacted Grace because as my pregnancy progressed I was increasingly anxious about being swept up in the medical system and not being able to advocate for myself confidently. She was able to support me with unbiased evidence based information and I felt empowered to make decisions that felt right for me and my family. On top of this, from the first session we had with Grace, we felt completely at ease and like we were meeting an old friend. This feeling only increased with every meeting. A few curve balls were thrown our way in the lead up to and on the birth day which Grace helped us navigate and was incredible at speaking to medical staff on my behalf. Grace is amazing! We hired Grace for my second baby as the first was a challenging birth. From the moment we met grace she was confident and we had a great connection. She was an advocate for our desired birth throughout and guided us with the birth in hospital with so much clarity among the medicalised vocab. She taught us so much about asking the right questions to get the right information, advocating for ourselves and making me as a woman feel empowered in my choices and in my body's ability. During the birth her voice and calmness led us. Post partum care with her has been amazing and we truly have been so happy to get to know her and have her part of our experience.

From my wife's perspective;

When I met Grace, I instantly felt her kindness and warmth. She has the ability to make you feel comfortable and safe. I connected with her immediately. She became a blessing during my pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

If it weren’t for Grace, I would never have had the courage to go for a natural birth. My doctor had already booked me in for an induction stating I was at risk of having a still birth.

When Grace said you can safely have a natural birth with said complications, it was a revelation to me. She was full of knowledge on the subject and provided lots of reading material regarding the matter. And empowered me to make my decision with confidence. That I can give birth naturally.

And I did, with Grace by my side, have a perfectly healthy baby. We can't thank her enough for her services

"When  we made the decision to get an antenatal doula, my wife and I wanted to find someone whose care, empathy and knowledge guided us through our journey and who could advocate for us during labour. Being a black couple we were acutely aware of the heightened chances negative outcomes  during childbirth and so we wanted somebody who was culturally aware and capable of being an advocate for us. 

Grace ticked all these boxes for us. In our initial interview with her, she immediately made us feel at ease with her empathetic and caring manner and reassured us about our competence in advocating for the care we wanted, even telling my wife "they may have experience of 1000 pregnancies, but they have no experience with your pregnancy, you are the expert on you".

After accepting to be our antenatal and birthing doula, Grace walked us through our birthing journey and gave us the courage to choose the birth we actually wanted for our first child (a home birth) over what we felt was expected by providing us with all the knowledge we needed to make an informed choice. In fact, Grace is all about making informed choices, and made it a point of duty to encourage us to ask the question "What does that mean?" at every opportunity both of herself and the medical practitioners we came in contact with. Often she would ask us " did they seek your consent?" "did they explain it to you?" constantly reminding us we were more than passengers in this journey.

When delivery day came round we couldn't have had a better guide with us. Whilst we were unable to have the birth we wanted, due to the length of time labour took and mum's inevitable fatigue, having Grace with us meant that at crucial times when we were overwhelmed and swamped, there was always somebody bringing everything back down to earth and grounding everyone present. my wife gave birth without medical intervention and our baby is hale and hearty. We really couldn't have asked for more.

Her professionalism, coupled with her thoughtfulness meant we always felt listened to, and cared for and over the nine months we developed a relationship that we are sad to see end. one thing we are certain is this; if we have a second child, we will ask Grace to be our doula again."

Grace where do I start?!??

From the moment I met Grace over a light brunch for an initial meet up halfway through pregnancy) I knew I needed to look no further for a Doula. Her aura radiated an energy that I knew I needed on my birth journey. Graces presence made me feel safe from beginning to end. 

I knew what I wanted from my 2nd birth and that her advocacy would help me and my husband reach this goal. From the moment we made a decision to work together Grace was on hand for any questions and our one to one zoom calls/home visits the months prior to delivery, helped to reset any negativity around birth that I may have been absorbing unconsciously. 

It was also crucial to me that my Doula was a woman of colour. The one to ones we shared as a couple with Grace were great for my husband to prepare his mind for the idea of labouring at home which we had not considered for our firstborn. I now consider Grace a part of our family.

"I was lucky enough to come across Grace's profile. We formed an instant bond in the very first meeting, and we knew she was going to be the right doula for us.

She reminded me of my options and empowered me to make informed decisions based on evidence, not fear. Grace was full of knowledge and researched information for balanced decisions.

Before labour and birth, Grace constantly provided relevant information through specific links, books, and videos. She covered all aspects of KG Hypnobirthing, and suggested listening to all the audios and meditations every day.
She helped me prepare my space for the home birth, bringing all the necessary things for a calm and happy atmosphere, and she even curated a positive music playlist for me. My goodie bag and the complimentary birth support equipment were essential. I did not expect to have such recursive and practical elements. Grace is full of mindful gifts. She pays attention to every single detail to create a magical experience.

It was always a joy to open the door to her calm and happy persona but, it was the emotional support for me that was key. Grace has an aura of a very old friend that creates an immediate sense of trust.
She was an important support during labour, using rebozo and other gentle techniques. She provided calm encouragement, aromatherapy, and massage. Grace made sure I stayed hydrated and offered constant suggestions to make me feel relaxed and safe. She played an important role within the family, and she was also a great support to my husband during the whole process.

Even though I didn’t accomplish my wish to have a home birth, and in the end, I had to be transferred to the hospital, Grace came behind the ambulance and stayed with us until everything was fine.
She brought me some of my personal belongings to the hospital and kept in contact with me every day. She helped soothe my disappointments, and I never felt judged by her. As I was struggling with the soreness and emotions, Grace was always thoughtful and kind. One example (of many such examples) after birth, Grace came home to visit our family and did a beautiful closing birth ceremony full of blessings, and even give me a massage. Seeing her again and going over my birth was so crucial for my healing process. All the valuable information she gave me about postnatal recovery and birth reflections were important for me to understand what I went through.
I cannot recommend Grace enough. Thank you Grace for all the support and Love!"

I had heard having a doula present reduced need for intervention but really it was so much more. "Grace saved me!! My first child was scheduled to have an eye surgery so my husband had to isolate and stay with him for the surgery as my eldest was only a pre-schooler. I booked Grace just in case my baby came when my son and husband had to be in surgery at the same time. Glad I did it, as labour happened at the same time as my son’s surgery. 

If Grace was not available I would had to go and birth without a birthing partner. With Grace’s help I finally managed to have the natural birth that I so much longed for and it all happened quite fast.

Grace supported me from the start, when we arrived at the maternity ward and only left me when I had safely delivered my baby, showered and was comfortable and ready to go to the shared postnatal ward in the early hours of the morning.
